Numbers · October 2026

What runs on Syli Labs.

Every month, we publish what the sites we host really use: languages, memory, CPU, databases, builds. Anonymous averages, to help you choose and size your service.

Period: October 1, 2026 – October 31, 2026 · Services in Production · Updated

In short

In October 2026, Node.js is still the most hosted language (31% of services). A Go service uses 41 MB of memory on average, compared with 588 MB for Java. PostgreSQL makes up more than half of all databases. 94% of builds succeed on the first try.

By language

How much does a service use, by language?

Average per service in Production, over 30 days. Static sites don’t count toward memory and CPU: they’re served from shared storage, with no server.

MB on average per service

Java and Ruby need the most memory; Go and Rust the least.

Key takeaways · 01

Go and Rust fit in the smallest plan

Under 50 MB of memory on average: a Go API runs comfortably with 256 MB reserved.

Key takeaways · 02

Java and Ruby: plan for 1 GB

The average hides the peaks at startup. Below 1 GB, restarts caused by running out of memory increase.

Key takeaways · 03

Rust builds slowly, then costs almost nothing

More than three minutes to build, but the lowest CPU use once online.

How the site is built

Why the others fail

  • Dependency not found31%A library is missing from package.json or requirements.txt.
  • Wrong listening port22%The application must listen on the PORT variable.
  • Not enough memory17%The build uses more memory than planned, especially in Java and Rust.
  • Missing variable14%An environment variable is read during the build.

Activity

Method

How we measure

  • Measurements taken every minute on every service in Production, then averaged over the month.
  • Development, Staging and feature environments excluded.
  • Language and framework detected at build time. A group is only published if it has at least 20 services.
  • No identifiable customer data: only totals and averages.
  • CPU: average share of one core (vCPU) used.
